The woman said she was asleep in her bedroom on Lake Avenue near Van Winkle Avenue when the sound of someone trying to come in through the bathroom woke her around 9:20 a.m. Monday.

She told police she made a noise to scare off the intruder, then saw a shadow run past her window, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

Last Friday night, someone entered the same apartment through the bathroom window when no one was home and took jewelry and various other items, he said.
